Glee Actress Missing

Naya Rivera, known for starring in TV musical series Glee, went missing at Lake Piru located in Southern California, Wednesday afternoon. She was with his four-year-old son when they rented a motorized pontoon boat in Los Padres National Forest, near Los Angeles.

Immediately, rescue efforts were made following the incident when her child was found on the boat sleeping on his own. The rental was drifting upon the discovery of the concession workers, who looked for her when the mother and child failed to return after the allotted time. They also found an unused life vest fit for adults. According to her son, Josey, they went to swim in the lake, but only he returned to the boat.

Thursday, she was presumed dead at the age of 33. “We’re presuming that an accident happened and we’re presuming she drowned in the lake,” confirmed Deputy Chris Dyer. “The goal is still to bring Miss Rivera home to her family,” the deputy added.

Recovery Effort

This Friday, the operations will turn into a recovery effort, as the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office believed Rivera to have drowned in a ‘tragic’ accident. They also said that surveying the lake might take a week, briefing the press Thursday that the search would be a “slow” process. Sgt. Kevin Donoghue of the sheriff office told on the news conference, “When you’re talking about underwater and visibility, that’s really limited.” It was explained that Lake Piru is full of plants and trees, the roots complicating the search for the team. Sgt. Donoghue mentioned that it is possible the actress’s body could be “entangled in something beneath the water,” which would make it difficult for them to recover.

The authorities also announced that the lake will be temporarily closed as the search for the actress proceeds. A team of at least 100 people consisting of divers and operators on helicopters will comprise the recovery operations team.

Fellow celebrities and friends shared over social media their prayer and support for the actress, including Vanessa Lengies, Demi Lovato, and Heather Morris.

Last week, she posted on Twitter a picture of her with a caption, “No matter the year, circumstance, or [strife], everyday you’re alive is a blessing. Make the most of today and every day you are given. Tomorrow is not promised.” This tweet went viral when her disappearance was reported on news Wednesday.

Rivera starred on Glee, a TV comedy musical premiering on 2009, which ran for six seasons until 2015. Ex-husband Ryan Dorsey and father of Josey was reported to have comforted his son, for the first time publicly.
